Loss of a Friend
One of the most difficult experiences is the death of a friend. Losing someone close causes us to mourn them. And we can’t help but ponder our own mortality.

- “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day… unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.” Unknown
- They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly — that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.” Anne Lamott

- “Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality.” Emily Dickinson
- On the death of a friend, we should consider that the fates through confidence have devolved on us the task of a double living, that we have henceforth to fulfill the promise of a friend’s life also, in our own, to the world.Henry David Thoreau
Death is a Door
- “Death is but a door, time is but a window. I’ll be back!”Ghostbusters II
- “Death is nature’s way of saying, ‘Your table is ready.’”Robin Williams
- Those we love and lose are always connected by heartstrings into infinity. Terri Guillemets

- “This passion, and the death of a dear friend, would go near to make a man look sad.” William Shakespeare

Each person has a specific relationship and memories of the friend that is lost. And everyone grieves in their own unique way. But it’s important to remember the words of Thomas Campbell, who said “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
